Bestway to get your kid active in summer Swimming & Cycling

Lockdown has taken its toll on kids. Prolonged isolation and the closure of schools had a negative impact on both the mental and physical health of kids all over the world. Before the pandemic, physical activity was incorporated into the school day as a routine. But in the wake of COVID-19, schools and parents face the issue of re-establishing sports and activity as an important part of everyday life. Now it is lighter and warmer in the day. So, it’s the perfect time to get your kids back into the routine of being active. Being active includes exercising outside or keeping busy indoors. Staying active will improve your child’s mental and physical wellbeing.

Experts say that children who get regular exercise are more likely to continue that in future. Parents are a key influence in a child’s motivation to maintain an active and healthy life. So, getting active as a family will help to build the foundation for your child to become healthy adults. In this article, we have listed down our top activity ideas for keeping your kids active in this summer.

Explore the outdoors

You should take advantage of the beautiful summer weather and get the whole family out for a walk. It’s always exciting to visit new places. You can invigorate your local in this way. Go on a walk with the Explorer’s Adventure activity. This activity will turn your everyday walk into a new adventure and it will also encourage your kid to pay more attention to their immediate surroundings. For the Explorer’s Adventure activity, all you need is a clipboard, pen and paper for your child. As you and your child continue your walk, encourage your kid to write down any signs of life that they notice. This could be birds, insects or even plants. The more descriptive they will be, the better it is for them.

Encourage some friendly-competition

After two years of lockdown and home-schooling, the opportunity to get outside and play with friends is exciting. Encourage some friendly competition among your child and their friends. It is a great way to get your kids to have fun while exercising together. If you’re not getting enough ideas then try out Volcanoes and Craters activity. Find out an even number of plastic cups and split the kids into 2 teams. Lay out the cups in between them and then set a timer. One team will try to turn the cups face up to create craters and the other team will try to face down the cups to make volcanoes. When the timer goes off, the team who have the most of either craters or volcanoes wins the game.

Burn energy in the garden

Let your kid move in the backyard with some quick exercises which will get their hearts racing. Don’t forget to let them warm up first with some stretches. Once they have warmed up, they can start with some exercises like Balance Test and Standing Long Jump. These games will boost their agility and stamina. You can also add games such as Shuttle Runs and Speedy Jumps. These exercises can be tailored to burn energy without pushing your kids too hard. These exercises are also a great opportunity for parents and children to participate in low-intensity exercise together. Experts say that, parents getting involved in exercise with their children encourages healthy and lifelong habits.

Keep them busy in indoors

Spending so much time indoors in the last year and finding stimulating activities may be getting harder and harder for you and your kid. But with a little encouragement, you can jumpstart your kids’ imagination and keep them active for hours indoors.
